RCMSAR Station 1 is part of the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue network, providing fast, reliable emergency response from Horseshoe Bay; servicing West Vancouver, Burrard Inlet, and the Howe Sound. Our team is entirely volunteer-based and supported by the community we serve.

Person in the water: Whytecliff Park

On January 4th at 14:42, Station 1 was tasked by the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) to locate an individual in the water off Whytecliff Park.


SAR 1 was on scene at 15:00. The person was located, accessed and recovered.

These calls are difficult, impactful and especially important.


Our crews, along with first responders in all forms of emergency response, take on this task and help to bring closure to the loved ones who are related to tragedies like these. Yet, the calls are never easy and remind us all to check in with our friends, family, and colleagues and let them know they are cared for.
